About Joshua
As with many of us, Joshua began his appreciation and understanding of the manipulation of audio as a child, sitting in front of the family stereo and creating patterns with the thirty-one- band graphic equalizer on the system. In his late teens he began to find himself in recording studio situations as a guitar player and fell in love with every aspect of the recording scenario. Eventually he was able to coerce a studio owner whom he had worked as a guitar player to let him sit in on recording sessions. Within a year, he was working daily in a full production studio, and audio engineering has been his life ever since. Joshua has been dedicated to instructing others in the art of music production and audio engineering for nearly two decades.

• Musicians: If you have purchased basic recording equipment (microphone, audio interface, audio recording software) to better record your own music but have stalled because you are having difficulty with the process, basic instruction can get you on the right path.
• Vocalists: If you want to learn to get quality recordings of yourself, then process and mix your voice to a high standard, single lessons or a recurring appointment can help you achieve your goals.
• Audio Engineers: If you want to learn audio engineering, from acoustics to signal flow, microphone theory and digital audio workstation concepts, lessons can help you with all aspects of recording, mixing and mastering.
• Music Makers: Maybe you would like to increase your music production skills; use MIDI sequencing and software based virtual instruments, and understand basic electrical music synthesis creation.
• Film and more: Joshua provides instruction all forms of sound for film; location sound basics, ADR and voice over recording, Foley and sound effects, music composition for film, and re-record mixing in stereo and surround.

Experience
Joshua has spent more than 20 years entrenched in the world of music creation and production. He began working full time as an audio engineer and music producer in 2004 at Plastic Meltdown Records and in 2005 moved into a commercial recording facility under the tutelage of producer John Andrew Schreiner at Jasmine Sound studios. Since then, Joshua has had dozens of record credits ranging from producer, recording and mixing engineer, assistant recording and mixing engineer, mastering engineer and musician. During the last ten years he began working in the film industry as a sound designer, composer, and re-recording mixer. Joshua was a professor in music production and audio engineering at California State University Dominguez Hills for ten years. He is currently in his fourth year as a film production professor at Montana State University.

Education
In addition to the completion of degrees from Saddleback College (AA/Music), and California State University Dominguez Hills (BA/Audio Engineering, MA/Humanities and Music Composition) Joshua is currently in the final year of his PhD in American Studies at Montana State University.
