About Megan
Megan Makeever lives a multi-pronged life as a music educator, professional flutist, award-winning singer/songwriter, and musical collaborator. She approaches teaching flute and piano with enthusiasm, compassion, and creativity as she yearns to help students reach their goals and express what they desire musically. As a multi-instrumentalist and genre-bender, Megan values a classical pedagogical approach paired with some other fun music that students dream to play outside of the classical realm (pop, jazz, blues, a student’s favorite Taylor Swift song, etc.). There is room for it all!
Experience
Megan has taught privately for 10 years and harbors a wide variety of teaching experience working with all ages in different contexts. She has experience and training in early childhood music education, private music instruction, and taught at the collegiate level. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant during her Master’s and partial Doctorate, she taught flute lessons, flute choir, class piano, and music theory. Additionally, she has taught at institutions and camps including Music Academy of North Carolina, Half Pint Harmonies, Yellowstone Music Camp, and Flathead Music Camp. After teaching at the collegiate level at High Point University and Montana State University, she decided that she loves working with children, teaching flexibly on her own terms, and teaching multiple styles of music! She holds a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance from St. Olaf College, and Master’s of Music in Flute Performance from the University of Montana.

As a performer, Megan plays with various bands, groups, and ensembles in Bozeman such as the Bozeman Symphony, Montana Ballet Orchestra, Bozeman Chamber Music Project, and the Ellen Theatre Orchestra. She gigs with her own original music as a singer/songwriter, and also sings back-up vocals and adds flute/keys in collaboration with other local musicians.
